SETconnect events bring neighbors and different communities together to learn, share and grow. The events create a safe environment and healing experiences for people and families often faced with living in isolation. They build connections between the people we serve and SET volunteers, giving volunteers the opportunity to touch our mission.

  • SET’s social events, Spring Social and Holiday Cheer, bring different volunteer groups together around a shared activity to build a sense of community. In December, the Holiday Cheer event brings residents a festive experience, holiday gifts and a chance to share in conversations with community members. The Spring Social event draws residents out of their apartments at the end of the long winter to reconnect with their neighbors and the larger community. Both events channel basic need items through event giveaway bags, so guests receive these items with a sense of dignity.
  • To gain insight into the life and health of people living in urban poverty, the VOCALIZE event, gives volunteers an opportunity to conduct one-on-one interviews with the people we work with in public housing. Volunteers also have the opportunity to disseminate relevant information to residents about Milwaukee’s long term care services.
